WO1 Martin "Ginge" Hawkings Memorial Tee
To remember the 21 years of service and dedication after the sudden loss WO1 Martin "Ginge" Hawkings, a truly inspiring Royal Navy Stoker, Ginge’s brother (George "Jack" Hawkings) a 14 year RN Submarine veteran has designed a commemorative t-shirt in collaboration with us at The Chits Inn.
Born and bred in Devonport and a previously dockyard tanky before he joined the RN, Martin climbed the ranks as a stoker with various drafts such as a Leadership Instructor at BRNC Dartmouth and detachment to the Commando Logistic Regiment in RMB Chivenor.
Away from dry land and skiing in Norway with the booty's Ginges' sea drafts were spent on Guzz based Type 23 Frigates HMS Chatham, Montrose and Somerset, before taking up post as the Type 23 Surflot WO1 ME in March this year.
Sadly Martin passed away unexpectedly at the start of June this year and leaves behind his wife and their beautiful 6 year old daughter. A true Matelot and great oppo, he will be greatly missed in the fleet.
