Liam Rufio Williams

Commanding Officer

Liam "Rufio" Williams

Liam joined the Royal Navy in 2012, to pursue a career as a Marine Engineer. After successfully passing both basic training at HMS Raleigh and professional training at HMS Sultan, he was entered into the fleet and served onboard HMS Sutherland and HMS Somerset. After being selected for promotion Liam completed his Leading Engineer Technician training at HMS Sultan and was then posted to 47 Commando to maintain the Royal Marines landing crafts. This was Liam's last posting in the Royal Navy, and he has now left the service to command The Chits Inn. Liam is a highly talented sports person and has played rugby for the Royal Navy as well as his country, the Philippines.

Ben Borman

Executive Officer

Ben Borman

Ben joined HMS Raleigh in 2014 and spent 10 weeks conducting Initial Naval Training. His Professional Training as a Warfare rating was conducted at HMS Collingwood, where he completed basic training as a surface picture compiler. HMS Somerset was Ben's first sea assignment, and he later served at Naval Ocean Processing Facility Dam Neck in Virginia Beach, USA. Ben became a fully qualified Leading Hand and served on HMS Northumberland, working on frontline Anti-Submarine Warfare operations. In 2023, after 10 years of service, Ben left the Royal Navy and now works at Babcock as a Project Controller.

Rory Fraser

Logistics Officer

Rory Fraser

Rory joined the Royal Navy in July 2016. After passing basic training, Rory completed professional training at HMS Raleigh to become a chef. Rory served on HMS Ocean, HMS Somerset, HMS Monmouth and HMS Sutherland, taking on key roles in firefighting, first aid and boarding-party duties. His final ship was HMS Sutherland, where he ran a huge event catering a fine dining lunch for Her Majesty The Queen as well as 700 guests on the jetty. Rory now dedicates his time to running a successful bespoke fabrication and automation business.

Ciaran Bevan

Head Of Public Relations

Ciaran Bevan

Ciaran joined the Royal Navy in 2014 as a Warfare Specialist, specifically Underwater Warfare. After phase 1 and 2 training, he joined HMS Northumberland before serving on HMS Monmouth during a Gulf deployment focused on anti-drug smuggling operations. Ciaran was onboard for the famous 65 million pound drugs bust. After gaining the rank of Leading Hand, he rejoined HMS Northumberland for a transatlantic deployment. In 2021 Ciaran took on a new challenge as a Leading Physical Trainer. Away from work, he loves time with his wife Lucy and dog Rodney, and is a keen sportsman in Brazilian Jujitsu, rugby and CrossFit.

Dan Platten

Dan is the heart and soul of customer service at The Chits Inn. His infectious smile and unwavering dedication have made him an indispensable part of the team. Though he does not have a direct military background, Dan's passion for naval culture and his ability to connect with patrons from all walks of life make him an honorary sailor in the eyes of the community. Whether helping a veteran find the perfect memento or welcoming newcomers, Dan embodies the spirit of maritime hospitality on dry land.

Louis Pedro Defreitas

Head of Media

Louis "Pedro" Defreitas

Louis "Pedro" Defreitas is the Head of Media at The Chits Inn, bringing a strong blend of military experience and creative flair. He served 7 years in the Royal Navy as a WE(SM) on HMS Vanguard before moving into media, where he has spent the last 2 years honing his craft in content creation and visual storytelling. Pedro runs a sharp, versatile filming setup that lets him capture everything from high-energy action to clean, cinematic shots.
