Admiral Lord Nelson (1758–1805) — “England Expects”

Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson is remembered for his leadership and naval victories during the Napoleonic Wars, most famously at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. His fleet's signal before battle began, “England expects that every man will do his duty.” This design features the shortened phrase “England Expects” in tribute to Nelson and the sailors who fought alongside him.

Sir Francis Drake (c. 1540–1596) — “Sic Parvis Magna”

Elizabethan sea captain, explorer and naval commander Sir Francis Drake became the first Englishman to circumnavigate the globe, returning aboard the Golden Hind in 1580. He later helped defend England against the Spanish Armada in 1588. “Sic Parvis Magna” is his traditional Latin motto, commonly translated as “Greatness from small beginnings.”

Captain James Cook (1728–1779) — “To New Horizons”

Royal Navy captain, navigator and cartographer James Cook led three major Pacific voyages. His expeditions produced detailed charts of New Zealand and Australia's eastern coastline and expanded European knowledge of the Pacific. “To New Horizons” celebrates that spirit of maritime exploration; it is a modern design slogan, not a historical quote from Cook.
